Dr. Michel L. Pawlosky will perform a complete eye health examination utilizing the most advanced instruments and techniques. A complete evaluation not only consists of a vision exam, but also includes a complete eye health evaluation. Many systemic diseases are found through these thorough exams and can be diagnosed and treated to prevent further damage. Dr. Pawlosky will allow time to discuss your vision problems and make certain that you have a complete understanding of your diagnosis and treatment options.

Retinal Photography

We are excited to announce that we have incorporated a new, highly sophisticated computerized Digital Retinal Imaging Photography Camera system into our practice to perform retinal screenings.

Because of the high level of sensitivity of this device, it can help us better detect “early” disease such as Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Hypertension, Macular Degeneration, Tumors and other retinal problems.

Even for the young and older patients, this photography device can help us establish a base line photo which we can then use to compare to your subsequent photos in the future to detect changes in your retina.

This state of the art photography session requires an additional 3 to 5 minutes of your time and there is an additional fee of $30.

OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)

An Optical Coherence Tomography scan (commonly referred to as an OCT scan) is the latest advancement in imaging technology. Similar to ultrasound, this diagnostic technique employs light rather than sound waves to achieve higher resolution pictures of the structural layers of the back of the eye.  With OCT, you can see each of the retina’s distinctive layers.

This allows your doctor to map and measure their thickness. These measurements help with diagnosis. They also provide treatment guidance for glaucoma and diseases of the retina. These retinal diseases include age-related macular degeneration(AMD) and diabetic eye disease.

New to our practice in July of 2017 we have added the Optikam EY-stick. Optikam’s EY-Stick measurement device obtains eyewear measurements that take into account how the frame will be worn by the patient once dispensed. OptikamPad’s Automatic Image Detection allows all measurements to be obtained immediately after snapshot, avoiding time-consuming manual placement of reference points. These measurements provide the patient with state of the art measurements that will provide the optimal vision for the patient.
